Saving a Minor Break

After giving your shinai the equivalent battering of levelling a rainforest, it can look a little bit unhealthy at times, as you can see here. However, there is one kind of minor break that can be saved with a little love (but not the kind of loves that involves you, your shinai and tide marks.)

It will look something like this.

To save your beloved pain stick, you simply need some sandpaper and some newspaper to shave it down over.

Undo your shinai, seperate the pieces and then GENTLY and CAREFULLY sand down the affected area of the shinai. Then, using a slightly damp cloth wipe the bamboo dust away from the take. And you're ready to go!
