Tying On Your Dou
How to put your dou on
Once you have put your tare on, the next thing you have to do is put your belly-protector, or Dou, on your beer-swelled midriff,
Step 1:
Still sitting in seiza, place the dou on yourself as shown, and bring on of the upper dou himo around your back and over the opposite shoulder

Step 2:
Pull your dou himo through the lether loop (dou chigawa) on the top of the hardened leather part (dou mune) of your dou, and then WITHOUT tying anything yet, make a loop as shown

Step 3:
Form another loop with the himo, and push it through the first one you create, and then pull it tight so that it won't come loose without you pulling it. Repeat for the other side. Note that this will take practise before you get it even vaguely correct.

Step 4:
Take the two lower dou himo, and tie them in a butterfly knot behind your, and you are ready to go!
