Six Week Schedule

The schedule for the course is as follows:
Week 1 � About Kendo, The Targets, The Equipment, How to hold a shinai, How to stand correctly or Kamae, Basic Footwork.
Week 2 � How to Look After Your Shinai, Reigi, More on Correct Kamae, More on Footwork, Basic Suburi.
Week 3 � Suburi and the Different Types, Correct cutting and Ki Ken Tai No Ichi with Suriashi, Kiai, Cutting to the different Striking Points.
Week 4 � Fumikomi practise, More on Ki Ken Tai no Ichi, Cutting Practise on the 3 striking points (Men, Kote and Doh), More Reigi.
Week 5 � Partnered Practise, Distances, How to take a Distance, How to give and recognise a cutting oppourtunity, Zanshin.
Week 6 � Kiri Kaeshi, Bokuto Kihon Ichi, Tonde Suburi, & 7TH KYU EXAM
At he end of the second lesson of week 6, there will be a formal examination for the grade of 7th Kyu. Upon successful completion of this test, the student will receive a certificate showing they have reached the grade of 7th Kyu.
Please ensure you have purchased at least your own Bokuto and preferably your own shinai as well, by the beginning of week 4.
There will be a warm up before each practice. Please advise any of the club instructors or seniors of any injury or condition, and they will advise you whether or not you should practise that session. After the warm up there will be a brief recap of the previous lesson.
