The UCL Internal Shiai Leagueor - the reason the noobs get up in the morningNow that the new group of n00bs is about to get into armour (and because we only ever did one of these for the previous year because you lazy bastards didn't up, apart from James and Mum), its about time that we re did this farce, and got ready for the new guys to get their crash course into the joys of hansoku.
Bits and Bobs about the Shiai LeagueThe shiai league was first done in our second year, as a vehicle for getting our first crop of noobs used to the idea of standing up on their own in front of people (ie the rest of the club) and scrutinised by refs who don't have a clue. It worked very well, and as a result, not only are "The Boys" now fine in shiai and competant enough to know the commands when told, but they actually win stuff too. Amazing that. You'd think someone had taught them. I don't know...... Anyway, as before, this is only open to people from the previous years crop of new starters, so any monkey who thinks they can remain ungraded for 12 years and batter noobs in 10 seconds and win all the glory, think again. As previously done, we will be doing this once a month, usually the first wednesday of every month unless there is a reason to move it, so make sure if you are in it that you are there and ready to go! The GladiatorsThis years soldiers of fortune are: Not decided yet!! The guys who balls up the stuff that's not fightingThe kind volunteers who will be reffing this debacle are:
and anybody else if I think we need them. Yes, that means you! The Table, and how it worksSo, in the table there are a number of columns. They work as follows:
Points work as follows.....Very simple really:
Other StuffNot much really. All matches are san bon shoubu (best of 3) and will be timed for 3 minutes, so that we can do stuff when its done. All hansoku including jougai (leaving the area, even though it'll be a bit small) will be used as normal. Any beginners reading this who feel like they might want to help, we will always need people to help mark out the shiaijou, put ribbons on people and keep time, so any volunteers would be nice. and finally......
