Gibbo's Final Thoughts

Once more, I would like to extend my thanks to everybody who helped out on the day to make this years University Taikai run so smoothely, be they one of the referees who very kindly gave their time for nothing other than a ham sandwich and a packet of Hula-Hoops, or one of the UCL beginners or members who sat at a table all day and wrote things down, or put up score markers, or put ribbons on backs.

In particular there are four people who deserve thanks especially, they are Dave Lever, my sempai from Oxford, for being a sport about driving the scoreboards across london for us, Terry Holt Sensei, who agreed to be shinpan-cho for the competition and kept the refs in line and provided assitance and advice throughout the day, and finally to Rob Bastin and Nick Treen who were the shiaijo managers for the day, and who both did such a brilliant job of making sure all the mundane little jobs were done so that the taikai ran apace.

Thanks to everybody involved, and to the competitors who came and made a good competition great, and under no circumstances do I want to do this next year!
