Tie Dou And Tare

Step one - Lay the Tare flat out on the floor, front side up facing away from you
Step two - Lay the dou face down on the tare as shown
Step three - Cross the longer himo forwards across the tare as shown, and then bring them back to inside the do
Step four - Tie the himo together inside the dou, make sure the knot is horizaontal and not vertical
Step five - Bring the lower himo around the end of the main body of the tare itself and then around the end of the lower part of the dou
Step six - Wrap it round once more then secure it by tightly pulling it underneath itself at the top of the loop
Step seven - Repeat for the other side and the finished article should look like this
Step eight - When storing the dou (especially a bamboo one) put a peice of old bamboo into it cut to the width that you want your dou to keep
